Reviving Vintage Charm: A Floral Resin Makeover from an Op Shop Find

My encounter with a charming antique dressing table at the local op shop sparked a creative venture, transforming the piece into a whimsical showcase of florals. The process kicked off with tackling a thick layer of varnish, using a chemical stripper to reveal the raw wood underneath. Prior to anything, a lead test ensured a safe journey, confirming the absence of any hazardous elements.

Carefully sanding down the table, mindful of its delicate veneer, I then applied a paint wash using Fusion paint, giving it a fresh and vibrant look. The real magic unfolded with the addition of floral molds and casting resin, creating a captivating arrangement that brought the piece to life.

To preserve the newfound beauty, I sealed the entire piece with clear polyurethane. Adding a touch of opulence, I used Rub and Buff in Antique Gold to breathe life back into the hardware (after hardware was thoroughly cleaned). As a final touch, new draw liners were added, completing the transformation of this op shop find into a delightful blend of vintage charm and floral allure.
